Evidence Framework: Specification Research
Evidence Mode Notice: Terrene Signal operates strictly under a specification-research model. Our gear guides, comparisons, and assessments synthesize manufacturer manuals, user documentation, and engineering data sheets. Field evidence has not been empirically verified through laboratory instrumentation or controlled test gardens.
Rather than asserting hands-on field trials that were not conducted, we evaluate metal detecting equipment by analyzing how declared hardware specifications translate into physical field realities.
Core Comparison Criteria
We structure detector and accessory comparisons around four distinct operational questions:
1. Operating Frequency & Ground Balance
Single-frequency VLF vs. continuous multi-frequency, evaluating capability in wet mineralized beach sand vs. uniform dry soil.
2. Ingress & Housing Construction
Submersible control units versus coil-only waterproofing, verifying seal gaskets and port closures against factory IP ratings.
3. Coil Geometry & Accessory Matching
Concentric versus Double-D coil geometry for target separation, combined with suitable pulse-induction or VLF pinpointer pairings.
4. Discrimination & Recovery Latency
VDI target segmentation, iron audio volume adjustments, and reported sweep recovery speeds across high-trash parks.
Data Delineation Protocol
Every product evaluation strictly distinguishes between direct seller documentation and our analytical questions:
- Seller-Advertised Specification: Verbatim parameters derived from direct-import product listings, technical sheets, or packaging.
- Editorial Field Question: Practical questions regarding real-world limitations (e.g., potential salt-masking, recovery speed trade-offs, or structural balance) for reader awareness.
